REGISTERED STI FOUNDATION COMPETENCY TRAINERS
Who can register as principal STI Foundation Competency Trainers?
- Consultant Physicians/ Senior Nurses/Senior Health Advisors (GUM/SRH/HIV)
- Advanced Clinical Practitioners
- Associate Specialists, senior clinical practitioners, GPs with a special interest in sexual health
- Holders of valid STIF Advanced Competency Certificate
All Registered STIF Competency Trainers are required to be members of BASHH.

STIF Competency Train the Trainer Workshop/Webinar
It is advisable that all members of the training and assessment team attend the STIF Competency Train the Trainers Workshop. This event is run twice a year and should be attended at least once every 5 years.
Who else can be involved in STIF Competency training?
Other members of the multidisciplinary team, such as senior nurses, health advisors and specialty trainees, depending on their experience, may be involved in much of the day-to-day clinical training.
The registered STIF Competency Trainer must ensure that anyone involved in training and assessing within their units is competent in the use of the assessment tools and that they have the required level of clinical competence in order to train.
