STI Foundation Theory Course for Course Directors
STI Foundation Theory Course centres must have a Course Director who is fully involved in the organisation and delivery of the entire course. Prior to course registration, the Course Director and course organiser should review the list of registered STI Foundation Courses to endeavour to avoid date clashes with other course centres.
Course directors have the option of running the 3-part STI Foundation course over 2-3 days or 4-6 half days (the sessions do not have to be on consecutive days) or running only one or two parts of the full programme. The STI Foundation Theory Course can be run either Face-to-Face or Online.
A registration fee of £40 per delegate per course is payable to BASHH. This covers registration, central administration costs and the course resources comprising delegate manuals, facilitator guides, PowerPoints, supporting course materials and standard forms to be used.
IMPORTANT: After January 2025 the first two parts (Foundation One and Two) will be simplified and condensed so that each will be 3.5 to 4 hours of learning (so half a day each). This to align with STIF competencies and make delivery easier for course directors. You are welcome to use the old format until 31 March 2025 but after this date all courses must follow the new curriculum.
Please find the following material to assist with setting up a STI Foundation Theory Course:
Once the Course is registered, a password will be issued to the Course Director, providing access to the STI Foundation Theory Course material.
In line with STIF competencies, we have also decided to hold a regular 'Train the trainer' course for course directors or facilitators aimed at explaining the theory course content, and delivering some extra teaching around relevant subjects for teachers.
