STIF NHIVNA Advanced Training structure
STIF NHIVNA Advanced Competency training and assessment is structured as a clinical attachment within an HIV service and comprises:
• Initial meeting between the Trainee and the Registered STIF Competency Trainer to plan the clinical attachment based on a Learning Needs Assessment Questionnaire completed in advance by the Trainee
• Designated e-Learning for Healthcare (eLfH) sessions in the e-HIV STI project and NHIVNA web-based learning.
• Minimum of two initial training sessions
• Clinical experience in an HIV out-patient setting – around 4 years or more; notes from some of the patient encounters during the 4-6 weeks before should be reviewed with the trainer prior to starting training alongside the Learning Needs Assessment Questionnaire
• Formal assessment of competence every 1-2 weeks using assessment tools (mini-CEX forms and case-based discussion forms)
• Meeting between the Registered Trainer and Trainee midway through the pathway
• 15 written reflective pieces on selected relevant patient encounters (anonymised)
• Audit
• Final summative assessment
